Frequently Asked Questions

How is the date of conception calculated?
Conception typically occurs during ovulation, which is about 14 days before your next expected period (or about 14 days after your LMP for a 28-day cycle). This tool calculates the estimated conception date by subtracting 266 days from your estimated due date.
Can conception happen outside my ovulation window?
Sperm can live inside the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days, and the egg is viable for 12 to 24 hours. Therefore, your conception date window spans from intercourse occurring up to 5 days before ovulation to 1 day after.
